- Magnesia (MgO): 10-12% min. (Enhances corrosion resistance).
- Silica (SiO2): <0.5% max. (Keeps it neutral).
- Ferric Oxide (Fe2O3): <0.2% max. (Reduces reactivity).
Physical Properties:
- Bulk Density (Dry): > 2.90 g/cc (for good compaction).
- Grain Size: 0-6 mm (typically 90%+ < 6mm), with specific fine fractions.
- Refractoriness: Very High (e.g., >1800 deg C).
- PLC (Permanent Linear Contraction): Low (e.g., < 0.1% at 1000 deg C).
- CCS (Cold Crushing Strength): High (e.g., >12 N/mm2 at 1600 deg C).
- Safe Operational Temperature- 1888-1850 deg C
